Windows 10 Download (students only)

You can access this free offer here: https://sunderland.onthehub.com/ or click the Windows 10 icon on the right.  You will need your University used id (bg00abc) and the password for this account to access the website.

Even if you have already done the free upgrade to Windows 10 Home Edition on your personal machine, you are still encouraged to order Windows 10 Education. You will be receiving a much better version of Windows and simply need to enter your new Windows 10 Education product key via the Windows System menu to unlock the additional features. 

If you are a Windows XP or Vista user, then Windows 10 Education will also allow you to upgrade to Windows 10.

If you are a Mac user, you will be able to run Windows 10 Education on your Mac via virtualization software such as Parallels.

The University can not provide support for installing or upgrading your PC to Windows 10 Education, you do this at your own risk, please check that your PC and devices (i.e. Printers) are fully compatible with Windows 10 before installing or upgrading.

FAQ's

 I use Windows 7, Windows 8 or Windows 8.1. How can I upgrade to Windows 10 Education?

After you order Windows 10 Education, take the following actions to upgrade your operating system.

 

  1. Use Windows Update to upgrade from the Home or Professional version of your current operating system to the Home/Professional version of Windows 10 (Control Panel » System and Security » Windows Update » Get started).
  2. After the upgrade to Windows 10 Home/Professional is complete, go to Settings » Update and security » Activation, and click: Change product key.
  3. Enter the product key from your order receipt to upgrade to Windows 10 Education.

Important:  Windows 10 will be deployed through Windows Update in phases. It may take longer for this option to appear on some machines than on others. If you do not see the option to upgrade to Windows 10 through Windows Update, you can upgrade by going to Microsoft’s Windows 10 Software Download Site, clicking the Download tool now button, and following the on-screen instructions.

I use Windows XP or Windows Vista. How can I upgrade to Windows 10 Education?
After you order Windows 10 Education, take the following actions to upgrade your operating system.
  1. Go to Microsoft’s ISO Software Download Site.
  2. Enter the product key from your order receipt when prompted to launch the upgrade to Windows 10 Education

Important: Upgrading in this fashion will cause all files, settings and software applications to be deleted from your computer. Be sure to back up all important data before you upgrade your operating system.

I use Windows 10 Home or Professional. How can I upgrade to Windows 10 Education?
After you order Windows 10 Education, take the following actions to upgrade your operating system.
  1. Go to Settings » Update and security » Activation, and click: Change product key.
  2. Enter the product key from your order receipt to upgrade to Windows 10 Education.
Will Upgrading to Windows 10 Education cause me to lose my data?
Windows XP and Vista users need to perform a "clean installation" to get Windows 10 Education. This means that all files, applications and settings saved on your computer will be lost during the upgrade.

Upgrading from Windows 7, Windows 8, Windows 8.1 or an earlier version of Windows 10 does not require a clean installation. Files, applications and settings will not be lost as a result of the upgrade.

Important:  It is always recommended that you back up important files prior to upgrading your operating system.

Will my current hardware be compatible with Windows 10?
Some users have reported hardware such as printers, microphones and scanners do not work following the upgrade to Windows 10.  Therefore, please be aware that not all of your hardware will be compatible and continue to work following the upgrade.  We cannot provide support in these situations.
 
How many computers can I install Windows 10 on?
Your copy of Windows 10 Education can be installed on one computer.  
 
Will the Windows licence expire?

Your Windows 10 licence is a graduating licence and therefore, it will not expire when you graduate.

What if I need to rebuild my machine in the future

Please make a note of the Windows 10 product key as you only have limited free access to download the key again. You may pay for a subscription to be able to retrieve your key again at a later date.
