A new Wi-Fi for guests

Technical Services / News / General Updates / govroam

Govroam is coming to the University of Sunderland.

Many of you will be used to using eduroam, which allows you to use Wi-Fi in any participating educational institution across Europe. Academic guests can also use University of Sunderland Wi-Fi without having to request login details.

We are now extending this by adding Govroam to our list of Wi-Fi that is available on campus, meaning visitors from the public centre will be able to automatically connect to the internet via our Wi-Fi. Govroam will be available in the near future, and is only available to public sector staff.

Govroam and eduroam are provided by our partner Jisc, the same company that supplies the University with our internet connection to the global academic network. We are busy talking to a range of other sectors to broaden your access to Wi-Fi when you are away from the University, and hope to be making more announcements throughout summer.

If you would like to more information on how you can stay connected away from the University with eduroam, please visit: eduroam (Students)
