University IT
University IT comprises several diverse teams, all of which are responsible for ensuring that all aspects of the University’s IT provision runs smoothly:
- Systems Development
- IT Operations
- IT Futures
- Project and Change Management
Teams Overview
The Systems Development Team focus on the design, development, maintenance and innovation of systems and services which are used by staff and students on a daily basis – e.g. Canvas, the University website, My Sunderland, SITS, e:Vision, Skype for Business and Student/Staff Desktop Services.
Overseen by Solutions Analyst, Sean Young, the Systems Development Team comprises three smaller teams:
- Applications
- Data
- Web
The IT Operations Team is responsible for a wide-range of core IT-related activities including service delivery, end user support and training, IT infrastructure, IT estate management, IT continuity, cyber security management, cyber education and awareness, information governance, data protection and records management. Led by IT Operations Manager, Jason Marshall, the team comprises four smaller teams:
- Cyber Security
- Information Governance
- User Experience
- Infrastructure
- Service Delivery
The IT Futures Team is responsible for delivering transformational change across the University, focusing heavily on exciting projects delivering Microsoft 365 technology and services. Guided by our Digital First programme, the team is involved in moving the University away from traditionally managed IT services to a cloud-first based model.
