Meet the Team

Your Information Governance Team

There are currently three members of the Information Governance Team, they are:

• Sam Seldon - Information Governance Manager and Data Protection Officer
• Ruth Reah - Information Governance Coordinator
• Kirsty Sopp - Information Governance and Operations Coordinator

Sam currently leads the team and has overall responsibility for the development and delivery of Information Governance across the University. Sam is the Data Protection Officer for the University of Sunderland.  A majority of his time is taken ensuring continued compliance with the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.  Sam has been working in information governance at the University of Sunderland since January 2013.

Ruth joined the IG Team in July 2018 and is currently reviewing the University's approach to Corporate Records Management, Ruth has a mixed role which covers all elements of Information Governance.

Kirsty formally joined the IG Team in August 2018, having assisted with information requests made under the terms of the Data Protection Act 1998 since June 2017.  Kirsty is currently implementing a policy management and dissemination tool to be used across the University whilst also juggling a mixed role cover various IG responsibilities as well as providing various elements of support to the Operations Team.
